Hipfit Super Food- Bee Pollen

Yes it is a food, and an amazing one at that.  Bee pollen comes in a couple different ways, powder, or little granules.  I prefer the powder as it mixes much better in smoothies and shakes.  The granules tend to fall to the bottom of the shake and you miss out on most of what you put in

Bee pollen can be purchased relatively inexpensively at any natural health food store or organic grocery store such as Organic Garage in Oakville.  The average price I have found is anywhere from $8-$12 for 250g and this will last you a couple months.

Bee Pollen is approximately 40% protein and contains virtually all of the nutrients needed to sustain human life.  What would I want if I was stranded on an island?  Well a boat of course, but second to that would be Bee Pollen!  Roughly half of the protein found in Bee Pollen is comprised of free amino acids, meaning that they are instantly ready to used by the body.  It is a great food to add to your diet to ensure that you are getting enough of all your nutrients.  The diet of most people today is void of many essential nutrients and Bee Pollen can help ensure you are meeting the adequate intake.


There are many medicinal uses of Bee Pollen such as increasing one’s physical strength.  There have been a handful of studies performed that have shown increases in physical strength as well as endurance vs that of a placebo.  It is also found in many natural skin care products as it helps repair any damage done to the skin and restore the skins natural glow.  Bee Pollen is also useful for helping balance out your metabolism.  In people with a hampered metabolism which can be cause by years of crash diet and caloric restriction bee pollen can aid in kick starting your metabolism back to optimal levels.  Balancing out your blood sugar is also very important to your overall health as well as weight loss.  Bee Pollen is a great aid in helping to regulate your blood sugar levels and reduce the spike that you would normally get from a high carbohydrate containing meal.

    start with 1 tsp in the morning and move up to 2x/day. There isn’t really a limit on how much but I recommend a starting point
